Commonwealth Anti-Ads

The Commonwealth spends around $100 million a year on advertising and it creeps up before elections, Media Report was told by Melbourne University academic Sally Young, who says the Feds are up there with Coke and McDonald's and Toyota as one of the country's biggest advertisers. Crikey.com.au
I believe there should be caps on what the government can spend on advertising and especially around election time. It gives the incumbent government a large advantage and in a country where most voters vote with their back pocket and the rest could not give a shit, IHMO this is a big problem. Surely this money could be used for a better purpose then to create very bad TV ads.
